Crystal Waters

In the June/July issue of Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazine there were directions by Lauren Reed, a wire artist, to make this amazing crystal and wire bracelet.  This is a photo from the magazine (hence the design suggestion).  I love the contrast between the black wire and the sparkly beads and the way the wires spiral and separate and then come together in the center.  This was a project I had to make!  I changed the materials though and worked with gold wire and Czech glass beads instead of Swarovski crystals.  My version of this beauty is below.

I really like it!  Of course it took me almost an entire to make it!  And like usual, once I started using this technique, I just couldn't stop!  Here are some other things I was inspired to make:
I used left over beads from the bracelet to make a lariat-style necklace.  I've never worn a necklace like this, but I have to say I really like it!

Right now, I have this on a sterling chain, but I'm considering making it lariat-style like the gold one.
And then I made this....what is it?  I have no idea!!  I thought I'd hang it from a chain, but really it just looks ridiculous!  I kind of like it anyway.  At this moment, it's decorating our kitchen table...Any ideas??

More of Lauren Reed's beautiful work can be seen on her Etsy Diadem Jewels or blog.  Thanks for the new project and inspiration!

  1. Really like the lariat style necklace. They are all beautiful. Would the one in the bottom picture work as a bracelet if it was gently bent? I know nothing about making jewelry, but it sure is pretty!
